Abstract: | The cytopathologic features of the fine needle aspiration biopsy of two cases of malignant peripheral leiomyoblastoma are presented. Aspirated tumor cells occurred singly, not in clusters. They were pleomorphic, varying in size and shape and showing eosinophilic to amphophilic cytoplasm. Many tumor cells had a vacuolated cytoplasm. Multinucleated large tumor cells were seen in one case; their nuclei were hyperchromatic and round to oval, with chromatin clumping and prominent nucleoli. The cytologic findings suggested a malignant mesenchymal tumor. Histology demonstrated the diagnosis of leiomyoblastoma. |
