Abstract: | Summary The utilisation of sucrose and its constituent monosaccharides, as well as of maltose and raffinose by mycelial felts of Rhizoctonia solani was studied with a view to throwing some light on the mechanism of utilisation of sucrose by the fungal mats being tested. The results obtained suggest that sucrose is, most probably, utilised through a process of hydrolysis by a -heterofructosidase enzyme. |
