Abstract:The production of animals for new sources of food may be affected by a variety of laws relating to the keeping, trading, health, welfare and movement of animals. Other legislation, such as that applicable to wildlife and to human safety, are also relevant. Religious, cultural and ethical considerations may also influence attitudes towards a new food product. It is important that these factors are taken into account during the planning and progress of an enterprise since they may have a substantial impact on its viability.
