A higher optical purity of l-lastic acid produced in Streptococcus faecalis

Abstract:In fermentation of lactic acid with Streptococcus faecalis, which produces mainly l-lactic acid, the optical purity of the l-lactic acid produced was improved from 97.1% to 99.8% by the addition of 0.5 g/l of diammonium hydrogen phosphate. The fermentation time was reduced from 130 h to 47 h b9y the improved method. Correspondence to: H. Ohara
