| Abstract: | The TECRA visual immunoassay was compared with an enrichment plating procedure according to the United States Food and Drug Administration procedures, for the detection of Escherichia coli in dairy foods. Both methods were used to detect E. coli O157 which had been inoculated into cheeses, milk powders, caseins and whey products. A centrifugation step was needed to test whey products according to the TECRA method. The results from both test methods were in complete agreement. |
