Abstract: | A study was performed to determine the relationship between the protein content and protease activity in suspension cultures of rose (Rosa cv Paul's Scarlet) grown over a 30 day period. Protein levels and protease activity were calculated on a per culture and per cell basis. Older nongrowing 14 day-old cultures possessed the largest total protease activity, but the highest concentration of protease activity per cell was in young 4 day-old rapidly dividing cells. |
