Abstract: | Depression is a common and debilitating psychiatric syndrome with a complex risk architecture marked by interacting genetic and environmental factors. In this issue of Neuron, the study by Kohli et?al. (2011) reports a novel genome-wide supported risk variant for depression that affects hippocampal gene expression, anatomy, and biochemistry. |
