| Abstract: | Smut spore-germination, spindle pole bodies, septal pores, and host-parasite interactions have been investigated in Ustilago esculenta . The species is compared with other Ustilago species parasitizing on grasses. The taxonomy of U. esculenta and the Yeniaceae is discussed. |
