Abstract: | Treatment of carrot roots with ethylene led to: (a) a doubling of the fructose-2,6-bisphosphate content; (b) a general increase in the concentration of glycolytic intermediates; and (c) an increase in the extractable activity of fructose-6-phosphate,2-kinase, the enzyme synthesizing fructose-2,6-bisphosphate from fructose-6-phosphate and adenosine triphosphate. |
