Abstract: | A method is described for the quantitative estimation of N-terminal residues in proteins. In addition, the technique allows the measurement of lysyl and tyrosyl content. The method is based upon the reaction of proteins with radioactive dansyl chloride in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulphate. In comparison with previous reports our method is 50–100 times more sensitive and does not require any correction other than that related to dansyl amino acid losses during acid hydrolysis. |
