Abstract: | Combinatorial chemistry principles have been applied to the generation of oligosaccharide libraries, both in solution and on the solid phase, with a view to producing inhibitors of carbohydrate-protein binding. The rich stereochemistry and high degree of functionalization of sugars has also resulted in their increasing use in the synthesis of glycomimetics and as scaffolds for the presentation of pharmacophore groupings to receptors that are noncarbohydrate-recognizing proteins. |
