Abstract:Excessive deposition of fat will lead to lots of diseases, such as heart disease, hypertension, hypertriglyceridemia, type II diabetes, and other diseases. Mice(Mus musculus) and porcine(Sus domesticus) are commonly model to study lipid accumulation, but more and more research show that the regulation network of fat metabolism are very complex, and regulatory factors interact with each other, fat storage is a complex physiological process. Many key fat regulatory genes and fat metabolism pathways found in mammals are conserved in C. elegans. Therefore, C. elegans is a powerful genetic model for fat biology research. This article summarizes the fatty deposits of C. elegans domestic and international, and review the progress of C. elegans fat deposition.
Keywords:Caenorhabditis elegans  Lipid droplets  Fat deposition
