Abstract: | A Prostaglandin analog 15 Methyl PG F2α administered intra-muscularly was used to induce mid-trimester abortion in 16 patients. The average dose given was 789 ± 60 ugm, and this resulted in only 9 successful abortions. The incidence of side effects was thought to be prohibitive. PG appears to produce two types of action on the myometrium, a membrane effect, and a more fundamental intracellular regulatory effect. |
