A simple classification of the complex parts of vascular plants

Four operational morphological units are defined to characterize 'typical' stems, leaves, roots and hairS. Any complex part can be classified among these OMUs by a graphical representation or by a quadruplet suitable for computer-aided analyses. Thirty-nine examples are given, suggesting a continuous view of plant morphology.
