Synthesis, crystal structure and vibrational spectroscopy of a novel mixed ligands Ni(II) pentaborate: [Ni(C4H10N2)(C2H8N2)2][B5O6(OH)4]2

Abstract:A novel organic-inorganic hybrid pentaborate Ni(C4H10N2)(C2H8N2)2]B5O6(OH)4]2 has been synthesized by hydrothermal reaction and characterized by FT-IR, Raman spectroscopy, elemental analyses and DTA-TGA. Its crystal structure was determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure consists of isolated polyborate anion B5O6(OH)4] and nickel complex cation of Ni(C4H10N2)(C2H8N2)2]2+, in which the two kinds of ligands come from the decomposition of triethylenetriamine material. The B5O6(OH)4] units are connected to one another through hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional framework with large channel along the a and c axes, in which the templating Ni(C4H10N2)(C2H8N2)2]2+ cations are located. The assignments of the record FT-IR absorption frequencies and Raman shifts were given.
