| Abstract: | Before performing phase II/III clinical trials in Africa, preliminary studies, including assessment and building up of clinical and laboratory infrastructures, estimates of human immunodeficiency virus incidence, investigation of the background immune response, and evaluation of the cross-clade immune response, need to be done. Plans and ongoing work in the context of the AIDS Vaccine Integrated Project and some preliminary data are presented. |
