Abstract: | The age, smoking and drinking habits, active health problems, and occupational fitness of prisoners entering Bedford prison, and the health and willingness of prisoners being discharged from prison to take a letter to their general practitioner were surveyed. This group of men had a high level of illness, neglected their health, and had a high alcohol intake. Fewer problems were found than in a survey in New York City. Many prisoners with active medical problems on discharge from prison were unwilling to take a letter to their own general practitioner. |
