Abstract: | Summary Published data from yeast and E. coli show that base substitution induced by UV in pyrimidine-pyrimidine sequences is not random, and suggest that fidelity of DNA replication is not entirely lost during transdimer synthesis. These observations question whether cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers are truly non-instructive lesions. |
