Abstract: | Summary The effect of suboptimal levels of -ecdysone on the differentiation in vitro ofDrosophila melanogaster wing discs was enhanced by the addition of larval fat body to the cultures. However, similar experiments with -ecdysome showed no enhancement. It is suggested that a partial conversion of -ecdysone to -ecdysone by the fat body may well account for these results. |
