| Abstract: | Abstract A novel synthesis of 1-(β-D-pentopyranosyl)pyridinethione nucleosides utilizing pyridine-2(1H)-thiones and α-bromoxylose or β-bromoarabinose triacetate as starting components is described. The free nucleosides were tested for their potential activity against HIV and different types of tumor virus. |
