| Abstract: | A strain ofPseudomonas sp. ATCC 29354, isolated from parathionamended flooded soil, convertedp-nitrophenol to 4-nitrocatechol which persisted in pure culture. In unsterilized flooded soil, not previously treated with parathion, 4-nitrocatechol was further metabolized by other microogranisms.This research was supported in part by funds from the International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna (Contract 2089/SD), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. |
