Identification of 23-demethylacanthasterol in an asteroid,Acanthaster planci and its synthesis

Abstract:	23-Demethylacanthasterol was identified in an asteroid, $Acanthaster planci$ , by GC-MS analysis and direct comparison with the synthetic sample prepared from 23-demethylgorgo-sterol. The sterol composition of $A. planci$ is also described.
