| Abstract: | Abstract The electrophoretic karyotype of Saprolegnia monoica was determined by contour-clamped homogeneous electric field (CHEF) gel electrophoresis. Eight chromosomal bands were separated. The size of these bands, based on migration relative to those of chromosomal DNA of Saccharomyces cerevisiae , Schizosaccharomyces pombe and Hansenula wingei , is estimated to be between 0.9 and 5.8 Mb. The genome size is estimated to be 51 Mb. |
