Amylase activity in the midgut ofSarcophaga ruficornis andMusca domestica

The pH for the optimum activity of amylase from the midgut of the third-instar larvae and adults ofSarcophaga ruficornis andMusca domestica ranged from pH 6.5 to 7.0 and 7.0 to 7.5, respectively. Maximum activity of the enzyme was observed at 50°C and the activity increased with increasing time period and enzyme concentration. Amylase from the midgut of the adult flies was more active than that from the larvae.

Zusammenfassung Die pH—Werte für die optimale Aktivität der Amylase aus dem Mitteldarm des dritten Larvenstadiums und der Adulten vonSarcophaga ruficornis undMusca domestica lagen im Bereich von pH 6,5 bis 7,0 bzw. 7,0 bis 7,5. Die maximale Aktivität des Enzyms wurde bei 50°C festgestellt; die Aktivität nahm mit der Zeit und der Enzymkonzentration zu. Amylase vom Mitteldarm der Adulten war aktiver als die der Larven.
