Abstract:It has been demonstrated that tumours do not appear after subcutaneous transplantation of small amounts (10(2), 2 X 10(2] of AD-12 sarcoma cells to intact hamsters, whereas tumours do appear in 53-72% of hamsters inoculated with starch suspension prior to transplantation of the same amounts of tumour cells (tumour growth stimulation phenomenon). The results show that tumour growth stimulation in hamsters pre-inoculated with starch suspension is connected with distraction of macrophages from the region of tumour cell localization to the abdominal area.
