Mapping of BamHI and SmaI DNA restriction sites on the genome of the nuclear polyhedrosis virus of the alfalfa looper, Autographa californica

Abstract:The DNA of the nuclear polyhedrosis virus of the alfalfa looper, Autographa californica (AcNPV), has been analyzed with restriction endonucleases BamHI and SmaI. The molecular weight of the BamHI fragments, SmaI fragments, and BamHI + SmaI fragments has been determined. The molecular weight of AcNPV DNA is calculated to be about 82 million. A presumptive physical map of the BamHI and SmaI restriction sites on the AcNPV genome has been constructed.
