Simulation in taxonomy: the use of the camincules

The article describes a simulation exercise for the teaching of taxonomy. The exercise involves studying drawings of members of an imaginary phylum of animals, the ‘Camincules’. The use of this material can lead to an understanding of some of the basic strategies in taxonomy. The basic material can be developed for use with varying levels of student in both school and higher education.
