Abstract: | Vibrio anguillarum isolates, derived from feral as well as cultured fish and recorded as serogroup O2 by slide agglutination, were selected for an immunoelectrophoretic study of lipopolysaccharide antigens. Antigenic preparations for the immunoelectrophoretic analyses were simple water extracts, heated to 100°C for 1 h. Two immunoelectrophoretic distinct lipopolysaccharide entities were detected. The analyses did not demonstrate serologic variations in lipopolysaccharide antigens among 16 O group 2 strains. The study also included an O1 K1V. anguillarum strain. Antigenic extract from this strain was not precipitated by OK antiserum againstV. anguillarum serogroup O2. |
