Abstract: | The Indian Major Carps Catla catla, Labeo rohita and Cirrhina mrigala , when spawned together in a 'spawning pool', hybridized at an estimated frequency of about 10%. The F l hybrids of these species lack any improved economic traits but are fertile and can backcross with the parental species causing genetic introgression. |
