| Abstract: | A successful scaffold-hopping approach gave a novel series of inhibitors of bacterial glutamate racemase (MurI). Early SAR studies of the 8-benzyl pteridine-6,7-diones led to compounds with micromolar enzyme potency and antibacterial activity. |
