A method for determination of the excretion rate of deoxycorticosterone

Abstract:A double-isotope dilution derivative method with collection of carbon-14 and tritrum-labeled steroids during gas-liquid chromatography for the estimation of deoxycorticosterone excretion is described. 4-14C-tetrahydrodeoxycorticosterone is used to correct for loss and 3H-acetic anhydride to measure mass. The levels of deoxycorticosterone excretion were similar after periods of varied salt intake but decreased 59% during dexamethasone treatment in normal subjects.
