| Abstract: | The equations of vortex electron anisotropic hydrodynamics are used to show that, in a plasma with anisotropic pressure, the Weibel instability of short-wavelength perturbations gives rise to a large-amplitude quasi-harmonic magnetic field varying periodically as a function of time. The computed field parameters agree well with the proposed analytic estimates. |
