| Abstract: | Several evidences have indicated that rest in insects is a sleep\|like state.The present article summarizes those findings which demonstrated how insect rest behaviour met the criteria for sleep,and the similarities in the physiological mechanisms of sleep between mammals and insects.In addition,the paper also elucidates the importance of biological clock genes in the regulation of insect sleep. |
