Abstract: | To form a proper mitotic spindle, all kinetochores must capture at least one microtubule plus end. A new computational modeling study shows that a search-and-capture mechanism based on spatially unbiased microtubule dynamic instability is too slow to account for the experimentally observed rate of chromosome capture. |
