| Abstract: | The present study depicts the phenomenon of supernumerary chromosomes as autonomous genome elements, similar in features with
segmental duplications. Possible role of B chromosomes in evolution and the reasons of their nonrandom distribution in different
mammalian taxa are discussed. |
