Abstract:Laminin, a basement membrane glycoprotein, has been implicated in a number of stages in tumour invasion and metastasis. In addition to its roles in cell adhesion and migration, laminin may be important in mediating interactions of tumour cells with the immune system and have more subtle roles in controlling metastatic behaviour. Recent work on the prognostic significance of laminin and the possible role of the molecule in antimetastasis therapy will also be discussed.
