| Abstract: | Cyanobacteria were recovered from each of 38 soil samples collected from local rice fields. Of the 84 species belonging to 31 genera that were isolated, 42 were heterocystous diazotrophic species belonging to 14 genera and the remaining were non-heterocystous.
