| Abstract: | Sugar orthoesters with complex alcohols were obtained in high yield in the reaction of acylated 1,2-cis-glycosyl halides with partially protected sugar derivatives in the presence of silver nitrate and 2,4,6-trimethylpyridine in dry acetonitrile. The reaction has been shown to proceed by way of the acylated 1,2-trans-glycosyl nitrate intermediate. |
