Abstract: | The CerambycidAlcidion cereicola Fisher attacks cacti in northern Argentina, the larval feeding resulting in the death of mature plants. The insect is hardy and easily reared, with a short life cycle. Laboratory tests and field observations demonstrate that it will only damage plants in the sub-familyCereanae of theCactaceae. It was approved for liberation in Queensland, Australia, in October 1974 for the control ofEriocereus martinii Lab. FormerlyCruttwell. |
