Abstract:Objective To analyze foodborne Staphylococcus aureus isolated in Liaoning from 2016 to 2018 by using pulsed field electrophoresis (PFGE) and enterotoxin typing to provide technical support for public health. Methods A total of 32 strains of Staphylococcus aureus were digested with restriction enzyme SmaI for PFGE analysis, their fingerprints were analyzed with BioNumerics (version 7.6), and the enterotoxins were detected using PCR. Results The similarity coefficients of PFGE patterns of the 32 foodborne Staphylococcus aureus were between 26.8% and 100.0%, and 31 PFGE patterns were obtained through cluster analysis. Each strain carries 1 to 3 virulence genes, of which SEH gene was most frequently carried each year. Conclusion Staphylococcus aureus can be typed using PFGE and PCR, both of them have good typing ability, high identification and good traceability to the strains.
