Abstract:
Immunocytochemical and immunodiffusion studies were conducted in an attempt to identify the immunoglobulins associated with the tegumental surfaces of Schistosoma mansoni. Peroxidase-labeled monospecific rabbit anti-mouse immunoglobulin class or subclass sera revealed the presence of mouse IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, IgA, and IgM on the surface of adult parasites recovered from mice. These observations were confirmed by double gel diffusion of the various rabbit antisera against an eluate obtained from mouse worms.
