Abstract: | Summary The relationship between in vitro performance of haploid embryos and the agronomic performance of the derived doubled haploid (DH) lines during the stages of field evaluation was investigated. The results showed a positive correlation between coleoptile height of haploid plantlets in culture and final plant height of their DH progeny lines in the field. These results illustrate that in vitro selection for plant height and other linked quantitative or pleiotropic characters can be carried out at the initial stages of a DH breeding programme. |
