Abstract: | Cells normally respond to a lack of nutrients by activating autophagy, a prominent pro-survival pathway that involves the catabolism and recycling of cytoplasmic material. Recent results indicate that mitochondria actively elongate during autophagy, thereby avoiding their degradation and sustaining cell viability. |
