Abstract: | Lactobacillus acidophilus LAPT 1060, isolated from infant faeces, produced an antimicrobial agent active against six strains of Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus and six strains of Lactobacillus helveticus . The agent was sensitive to proteolytic enzymes and heat (10 min at 60°C) and is a bacteriocin and designated acidophilucin A. |
