Abstract:The CO2 production of chick embryos, in vivo, was measured on the 18th, 19th, and 20th days of incubation. The findings in this study showed that vitamin B12-supplemented embryos uniformly had a higher rate of CO2 production than the deficient embryos. This difference in CO2 production was still evident when the partial pressure of oxygen was increased. This difference in CO2 production was possibly caused by a difference in hemoglobin content of vitamin B12-deficient and vitamin B12-supplemented embryos.
