Abstract:Addition of KCl to medium at 0.1 M or higher promoted the formation of conidial heads in Aspergillus oryzae. When higher concentrations of KCl were added, a larger number of conidial heads were formed. NaCl and MgCl2 were slightly less effective than KCl. The effect of salt on the formation of conidial heads on a minimal medium was as high as on a potato/dextrose medium but slightly higher than that on a complex medium when 1 M KCl was added.
