| Abstract: | The amino acid composition of the murein (peptidoglycan) of 75 strains of enterococci was investigated. All strains designated Streptococcus faecalis according to their physiological properties contained the lysine-alanine type of murein; all strains classified as S. faecium contained the lysine-aspartic acid type of murein. |
