| Abstract: | Metal ion (Mg(II), Ca(II), Zn(II), Cu(II), Ni(II)) complexes of nystatin and amphotericin B (polyene antibiotics) have been prepared as solids. The stoichiometry of the complexes has been established. IR, ESR investigation indicates the metal-ligating sites in the polyene molecules. The existence of such complexes is discussed in the light of polyene mode- of-action theories. |
