Abstract:Two killing methods were compared on the clupeid, bony bream Nematolosa erebi and it was found that ice‐slurry immersion was more humane than benzocaine overdose. The use of ice‐slurry for killing N. erebi should be accepted as a standard humane method and considered similarly for other warm‐water species.
