Abstract: | Summary We constructed a secretion plasmid in which a truncated penicillinase gene of Bacillus licheniformis was introduced at the end of the signal peptide coding region of a Bacillus amyloliquefaciens neutral protease gene. A Bacillus subtilis recombinant secreted about 140 mg/liter of the penicillinase into the medium. Analysis of the purified product revealed that it was a mixture of two penicillinases containing one or two additional amino acids at the NH2-terminus of B. licheniformis exo-small penicillinase. |
